Is Facebook taking away the charm of social-networking and hampering it all together?

Facebook revealed the Open Graph at f8 developer conference a few months ago and now it is apparent that the idea behind it was to make everything commercialized in order to gain profits. You might have noticed that whenever a friend of yours reads a story via website app (for example Guardian app for Facebook) then automatically the story will be shared to your friends. The problem is that when a friend clicks on the link the story is not opened rather a pop-up appears that requires one to authorize before reading the content.

This takes away the basic essence of a social-networking website, which is sharing and not recommending or archiving. This can be a very dangerous strategy as people are looking to share things with their friends and not irritating them into not clicking the links at all because through Open Graph strategy the number of overwhelmingly irrelevant stuff will make people go crazy.

You as a user can stop all this by not giving permission to such apps in the first place because in case you do then your friends won’t be happy with all the mundane posts and recommendations auto initiated by such apps. To conclude, Facebook has taken things too far and this can really hurt them in the coming months as they have robbed social-networking of its basic theme that is sharing and not recommending.
