Google Unleashed July 2021 Core Update: Part 2 of the June Update

On July 1, Google has released the July 2021 Core Update which is the continuation (second part) of the June Core Update 2021.

This update will take a week or two to fully roll out as stated by Google.

Google said it wasn’t able to add more to the June core update due to the shortage of time. What’s being rolled out may be the last of the improvements Google aimed to add to the June Core update.

Well, July 2021 core update can be a ray of hope for those websites being negatively impacted by the June 2021 update. This is because Google assured us that the changes done by June 2021 update might be reversed by July 2021 update. Meanwhile, Google has recommended the same measures to overcome this new update as it has been for all previous updates.

Google has already rolled out many updates this year, including June Core Update, May Core Update, Page Experience Update, and Google Spam Update.

Is Google July 2021 Core Update a Relief for Websites?

Hopefully, for some websites, this might be the healing phase they have been looking for. After being negatively hit by a Google core update, it might take until the next core update before experiencing any significant recovery. This update might help the websites affected months ago. It might even recover if they were hit by June Core 2021 update.

Google has also assured that the changes caused by June 2021 core update might be overturned by its follow-up in July (July Core Update).

Understanding the Impact of Google July 2021 Update

As we all know that a core update is a significant change by Google that impacts a large number of indexed web pages. Web pages that gained high rankings for their target keywords may fall after a core update. And Google July 2021 Update is no exception.

July 2021 Core Update and its predecessor June 2021 Core Update have the potential to affect the greatest amount of websites as they are rolled out widely to all search results.

While it is earlier to say what kind of impact July Core Update can bring, we need to understand the June 2021 Core Update’s impact for a better forecast.

SEMRUSH found huge changes on Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5, 2021, after the June update rolled out.

The websites categories that experienced a huge ranking influx were health, pets, autos, animals, travel, and science. The June Core Update benefitted the domains like Wikipedia, Amazon, Facebook, Collins Dictionary, and Techopedia while dropped the visibility of Tripadvisor, Quora, YouTube, Your Dictionary, Healthline, and Reddit. Yeah, all these changes are likely to be reversed by the July Core update.

How to Deal with Google July 2021 Core Update?

The updates by Google aim to assess content and determine what web pages serve better user experience. These changes might boost the ranking of the pages that were previously not rewarded, meaning that some may lose ranking while others may gain it.

But don’t hit the panic button.

Instead of giving your website a quick touch-up, it is better if you wait for the update to fully roll out and settle. It will take 10-12 days for a full roll-out of the July 2021 Core Update. What generally happens is that after an update release it is followed by a period of “calmness” that is then disturbed when Google makes reversals or adjustments. That’s why you shouldn’t make drastic changes just to deal with the updates. Wait until the full update is released before making any major changes to your website. Keep an eye on rankings and organic traffic until July 7-15 and take action from there.

Stay updated with all the happenings and find out why some websites gain good rankings. Check out the patterns and compare this with those who have lost the ranking.
