Facebook launches a new original content website – Facebook Stories.com

The social media giant Facebook has come up with a whole new website – FacebookStories.com. Facebook Stories aims to “share the stories of people using Facebook in extraordinary ways.”

Johanna Peace, a Facebook spokesperson said, “This site will share some of the most extraordinary, quirky and thought-provoking stories and ideas from the more than 950 million people around the world who comprise the social graph.”

FacebookStories.com comes in magazine look and documentary-style layout that allows members to record their timeline content and after that witness infographics of the most commonly shared memories.

The new website launched today features different themes for every month and the theme for August is “Remembering” that features a video telling the story of a 27-year-old Mayank Sharma, from New Delhi, India, who lost his memory due to tubercular meningitis and used Facebook’s “People You May Know” feature to rediscover his personal history. Another story tells about a group of Guelph, Ontario residents who used a Facebook page to help save the local Petrie Building.

All Facebook users can put forward their own stories on the website but Facebook will not display all individual’s stories prominently on the homepage of a website. Facebook will first select the best of those submitted to display on the homepage and at the end of month will make an infographic associated to that particular month’s theme.

This month Facebook scrutinized the Biggest Life Moments from Timelines. And the infographic revealed that Facebook users shared major memories on travel, followed by moving, dating, getting married and having babies.
