Valentine’s week has begun and thus, love is blooming all over! Then how we KVRians can keep ourselves away from this romantic ambiance around us? Like every year, this year also we have decided to celebrate the Valentine’s Day in a different style. But, before that, let’s have a glimpse at the significance and history of this lovely day.
History:
Valentine’s Day is celebrated every year on 14th February. It is the day when lovers express their love with gifts and romantic cards. The day is celebrated in the honor of “St. Valentine” who gave his life for the lovers of Rome. The history says that the ruler of Rome Claudius II did not allowed its people to marry as he believed that married men cannot fight because they love their families more than the country. At this time, St. Valentine revolted against this rule by helping the lovers to marry in secret. When the king came to know about this, he ordered to imprison and hang the saint. During his imprisonment, he felt in love with the daughter of the jailer. He wrote a letter to the girl expressing his love and ended up with-”From your Valentine” and died. However, how the date of 14th February was selected isn’t known, it is believed that St. Valentine died on 14th February. Since then, lovers celebrate this day to express their love, in various ways.
This is how KVRians’ are celebrating:
This year, KVRians have planned to celebrate Valentine’s in a different way. We have started a poll in which our employees are asked to choose the activity they would like to do on the Valentine’s Day.
They have to select between the three options –
- “Aaj ke daur ki Mughle Azam” (Recite a surprise line in romantic way and win Cash Prize),
- “Khulja sim sim” (Surprise dares and surprise prizes) and
- “Kehte hai Shehjada Salim” (A play – legendary film Mughle Azam will be enacted in a funny way – Surprise Gift for best performer / team).
The activity with largest number of votes will be executed. The last date for the polling is 12th February 2015. Excited to know the results!
